Born and raised in Sarnia Ontario, Nancy was the most amazing woman I have ever known... She faced many adversities in her young life from having her brother become a paraplegic when she was a teenager to developing life threatening colitis by 19, which led to liver disease and a 'touch and go' liver transplant at 26. As if that's not enough she developed cancer, in 2002, and endured two major operations. She suffered a reoccurrence of the same cancer in 2006, which ultimately took her life. She was only 41. But through it all she always believed she would survive and that these adversities were a mere blip in the adventure of life. She never felt sorry for herself or asked "why me". Instead she volunteered, with the Canadian Liver Foundation to help and educate others. She gave hope to people where none could be found and never let them give up on themselves. Even though Nancy faced so many tragedies she never stopped living. She worked for Novachem for 15 years and loved every minute of it. She traveled all over the world, including living in England for two years and even fell in love with a wonderful man just 20 months before she died. He gave her last year and a half of life a tremendous amount of joy and happiness that she so deserved. Nancy truly believed that “It's not the Years of Your Life that counts but rather the Life in Your Years” and she lived each day that way. Nancy passed away the morning of May 22nd, 2007 with the same dignity and grace that defined her whole life. |
