September 27, 2003 Monterra T.C. - Collingwood MXD
Monterra Tennis in Collingwood hosted the final mixed and the final Tour Stop before the year-end Championships next weekend
32 very fine players enjoyed a little mod sod ball in an always popular setting
A rather motley crew looks on!
Lady in Red....
Wait!.....that's no lady......that's Lorraine!
A rather confused looking but intimate end to the day!?
In the end, Shelby Evans and Heidi Bottschen (right) defeated Lorraine (the red) Harbin and Scott Barrett, 8-5 for the "A" title
The "B" final was taken by Brenda Demmers and John (Ike) Iclanzan (right), 8-4 over Paul Cornfield and Jane Rennie
A new feature of the TennisAccess.com Doubles Tour is to visit (after the Tour Stop, of course) interesting land marks in the area!
On Sunday, we visited the biggest suspension bridge in Ontario....300 metres above Collingwood
Eight brave souls challenged their balance and their common sense to make the crossing and........
.....the view was worth it!
The lighthouse
This is a view of the valley near Monterra
The port of Collingwood
An added feature was a trout-infested Swan Pond, or was it swan-infested trout pond?
Yet another feature of the Tour is to send field reporters to visit unsuspecting Tour players who live very far away and claim to have great tennis nearby!
You know Jan and Rob Dawson, don't you?.....well...here's where they live!
No wait, here's their place on lovely Trout Lake!
And the infamous North Bay Tennis Club...
And here is the Dawson's only pet.....but he got out of the cage this time!
