March 13-20, 2004 Hilton Head Island - South Carolina Tennis Vacation and International Tour Stop |
| Beautiful Hilton Head Island awaited 50 some odd vacationers / tennis / golfers for some fantastic weather, tennis, golf, food, shopping, and more! |
|

| The gang was treated to a welcome reception at the club, after a long, hard drive! |
| Our hosts for the week were Tanda and Denny Bianco, whose brand of genuine southern hospitality was appreciated by all! Port Royal Racquet Club Rules! Thanks, Guys! |

|
|
| Throughout the week, everyone worked hard on their games, in preparation for the Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles tournaments that loomed later in the week! Round Robins and Drill Groups seemed to do the job, alright! |

Whatta Team! | Color-Coordinated, but that's as far as it goes! |
| Here the pros were forced to line up for a mug shot, which was also sent to the local police! |
|

| Glorious weather and great viewing made this club the best for our huge gang! |
| St. Patrick's Day is so big down south that we had to have the green beer and wine flowing...mmm...looks good!? |
|

| The always popular prize time with Tara was back and she did not disappoint! |
| Also popular was Quiz time, which is most fun for the kids, I would say! |
|
 | Our happy hours and breakfasts together were very special at the old Marriott Residence Inn! |
| A different restaurant every night for dinner was also a permanent fixture of the vacation | |
 | Extra-curricular activities abounded on HHI. Here a very strange dolphin cruise captain gets a lesson in Canadian Hospitality! |
| The picturesque Harbor Town Lighthouse can be seen from the 18th hole of the MCI Heritage Golf Classic. | |
 | South Beach Marina was also a recently-discovered treasure on the Island! |
| The best ever was to ride bikes on the beach for hours and hours without knowing where you are going, even if you have a plane to catch! | |
 | Many enjoyed the fabulous golf at the Shipyard plantation as part of our package deal! Happy shot a 160 |
| And now on the serious stuff: Thursday and Friday, 6 dozen of the most tournament tough tour players took to the courts to let it all hang out!....and the Winners were: |
| In a true north-south battle, Scott McIntosh and Rob Dawson (left) defeated Vance Cooper and Gene Tapilu in the Men's "B" final, 8-4 | |
 | In the Men's "A" final, Scott Barrett and Aubrey Fishman (right) doubled the Cinderella-story duo of Mike Brennan and Rodney Gibson, 8-4 |
| In the Women's "B" final, Gundi Veritas and Nell defeated a very happy Kathryn Jennings and Cynthia Bellinger, 8-5 | |
 | The Women's "A" final saw Kathy Tuitt and Linda MacDonald (left) edge Sandra Barrett and Jane Hartnell, 8-6 |
| The next day, we did it all over again in the Mixed! Newcomers Joe Hock and Cynthia Bellinger (left) took out Linda Gregory and Stewart Tilley, 8-5 First tournament ever for Cindy! | |
 | In the Mixed "A" final, Scott Barrett and Kathy Tuitt persevered over Sandra Barrett and Mike Brennan, 8-6, in the last minutes of the dying light |
| The next day, a tearful farewell marked yet another waffle breakfast, as the gang slowly departed the island to make their way back to piles of snow and probably piles of work, too! |
 |
| Thanks to Jennifer and Larry at the Marriott Residence Inn for being so great, and thanks again to the Bianco's for their tennis group organization and entertainment skills! Cheers, and hope to see y'all next year! Scott & Sandra |
| P.S...Don't forget to sign up for the 2004 season kick-off event at Ontario Racquet Club, May 1-2....... Check out the details Here! |
