2004 Championships Monterra Club, Collingwood

October 16-17: MD, WD, MXD

Everyone found a great way to end to a great year of tennis on the Tour!

Collingwood did not disappoint!

The Friday night reception was attended by those so keen, that they would not dare come up in the morning!
The calm before the storm!

The calm before the storm, Part 2!
A great feature of the weekend was on-court bar service.....really!

The Steam Whistle was flowing, I tell you!

Duncan Adams from New Balance was fully on display (clothes and shoes, I mean!)
Hey, come back here!

As well, Oleuchi and company were on hand to heal the walking wounded!

Thanks Oleuchi!

As usual, our emcee, Pat Gillett was on hand to enforce the off-court Code of Conduct rules!

An afternoon break in the action lead to a well-attended Head-Racquet-Only clinic by Bryan Li!
Anxiously awaiting their turn!

Even the kids go into it!

Better than watching us play, that's for sure!

Johnny Junior says don't drink the water in the bottom of the Evian Cooler!

Why? No Reason.

So popular was this event, even homeless people (with DVD players?) came out to enjoy the atmosphere!
Play continued almost non-stop on the lovely Mod-Sod courts at Monterra

The dinner dance on Saturday night brought 100 people out to the Mountain Springs Lodge for an evening of food, drink, awards, and dancing.

Alas, no Karaoke!

Cozy atmosphere with fantastic food!

John Junior won the award for the best dressed at the party.....period!
Vicky Chan won the best sportswoman award!

We are not sure how much she paid Sandra yet?!

Joe Hock won the best sportsman award, even though I thought I heard some people booing?!
Trevor Bechtel accepted the award for the highest ranked men's team, along with Atilla Schwarze, who had a previous engagement in Hollywood!

Kelly Stobbe accepted the award for the highest ranked women's doubles team, along with Sheila Cunningham, who slept in late!
Marie Kuleba and Ian Gentle thought they won the "Oldest Mixed Team" award, but it was really not, it was the award for the highest ranked mixed team!

Linda MacDonald was on hand in a lovely red leather jacket by Danier to accept the award for the most participation by a woman on the Tour, won by Kathy Tuitt!
Shelby (shoulda bought a Tour Card) Evans was far and away the most participative Tour player from the men's side, as well as overall!

Luckily John Ferland was on hand to accept, on behalf of Bill White and the Stratford Tennis Club, the Premier Venue and Best Tour Stop Director award for 2004.

Bill's club, the Stratford Tennis Club, paid for all of Bill's expenses to come to Collingwood, except for transportation.....word has it that he is still walking up Highway 24, and will be along shortly!

Pat Gillett, once again in the spotlight, deserves a medal, not an award, for her outstanding help all year, and in previous years!

You know what they say.....behind every good woman......is a retail shopping opportunity?!

The dance was most appreciated by Sophie, Jesse, Amelia, and Emily!
Sunday saw the culmination of blood, sweat, and tears, and then we played tennis!

The "B" women's final had Deb Inrig and Kathy Rintoul (left) overcome Linda MacDonald and Moira Ainsworth

The women's "A" final was a closely contested affair, with Joanne Pilkey and Deb Schaner (right) edging Sandra Barrett and Heidi Bottschen
In the men's "B" final, the dream team of Milan and Roman Ptak (right) didn't have enough left in the tank against speedy Gonzalo Pages and Justin Lam

A rough night for all, shows in this picture!

Kevin Drew and Shelby Evans (wearing silly hats) defeated John Ferland and Scott Barrett in the men's "A" final

Sue Hatton and Paul Cornfield must have scared their opponents away!

They doubled up on Moira Ainsworth and Clinton Collier in the mixed "B" final

In the final match of the year, Heidi (couldn't have been that sick) Bottschen and Bryan Li (right) conquered Shelby Evans and Linda MacDonald, to win the "A" mixed title

Well, another great Championships, another great year. We want to thank all of the players, fans, clubs and sponsors for all of your support and participation in the 2004 tour!

Look forward to seeing you soon.. and watch for the 2005 Vacation details... coming soon!

Hope to see you all this winter some time!

Cheers,

Scott & Sandra
